Facebook worsened college students' mental health

Thought this study (highlighted in a prior post) was interesting. The researchers found:

Comparing our estimates to the most closely related ones in a meta-analysis by Paul and Moser (2009), we find that the impact of introducing Facebook at a college on mental health is around 22 percent of the effect of job loss.

A really useful comparison, to give readers an understanding of the magnitude of impact (of Facebook on mental health).

Also from a methodological point of view, a classic diff-in-diff study that could be taught in econometrics / stats class.

Caveat that the study uses somewhat older data (by design), so it may not reflect today's impact.
