Do house plants actually clean your air?
Turns out yes!
In a sealed test chamber, a small plant wall cut pollutants (VOCs) by ~42% in 8 hours.
The catch: the test chamber was pretty small. So to get a similar effect in an actual room, you’d need a whole wall of plants wall.
One study estimated you’d need 10 to 1,000 potted plants per square metre of floor – just to remove pollutants as fast as normal ventilation does.
So indoor plants can help, but if the air outside is good – just open the window!
